This blog post is designed to give a short insight into some of the most popular two player games available at Clownfish Games.
1. Sky Team
Prepare for Landing! As pilot and co-pilot in the cockpit of an aircraft, your goal is to land the airline safely in different airports around the world. Assign dice to the correct spaces in this limited communication cooperative game. Players need to work together to ensure balance, speed, deploy flaps and landing gear are ready when the plane lands. There are multiple challenges and scenarios to overcome for added replay value.
An expansion is currently in development!
2. Beer & Bread
3. Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game
A hit of the 2023 UKGE. Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game, is head-to-head game for two players, the galaxy-spanning war between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance. With mechanics similar to Star Realms this easy-to-learn deckbuilding game, players take on the role as either the Empire or the Rebels, as the game progresses both players strengthen the power of the starting decks and work to destroy each other’s bases. The first player to destroy three of their opponent’s bases wins the game!
A Clone wars edition is due late 2024!
4. 7 Wonders Duel
An absolute must-have classic! Following a number of the original 7 Wonders game mechanics players will be taking military, science and commerce cards amongst others to achieve victory. The difference here, the cards are arranged in a tree where players in alternate turns choose which of the bottom most cards to take in their bid to build the best city - or destroy your opponents!
Its popularity has led to two expansions: Pantheon & Agora.
5. Targi
The board consists of a 5x5 grid. Meeples are placed one at a time on the spaces at the edges of the board (not including corner squares). You cannot place a meeple on a square the opponent has a meeple on already, nor on a square facing opponent's meeple. Once all meeples are placed, players then execute the actions on the border squares the meeples are on and also take the cards from the centre that match the row and column of the border meeples.
The game is predominantly scored and won by playing tribal cards to your display. These give advantages during the game and victory points at the end. Each card has a cost in goods to play. Goods are obtained either from border spaces or from goods cards.
An expansion is also available for Targi!
And finally....
Special mention to Quacks of Quedlinburg: The Duel as it has only just been released but with Quacks being a mega-hit we're expecting this two player version to not be too far behind!
My personal favourite is Star Wars Rebellion. In this cat and mouse style game, the Empire is hunting for the hidden rebel base, all the while the rebels themselves are trying to gain support from the systems within the Galactic Empire.
